New Products and Amendments - December 2009

In December 2009, the Recycling Regulation was amended to add new product categories for Antifreeze and Lead Acid Batteries, extend the compliance deadlines for some electrical and electronic products and make minor administrative amendments.

New Products - Antifreeze and Lead-Acid Batteries

New Product Categories for Lead Acid Batteries and Antifreeze were added to Schedule 2 of the Recycling Regulation. Producers of these products are required to comply with the Regulation by the dates outlined in the table below. E-waste Deadline Extensions

The Electronics and Electrical Product category in Schedule 3 of the Recycling Regulation was amended to extend the compliance deadlines for some product categories.  For information on the changes please see the Electronics and Electrical Product Category web page.

Minor Amendments

The Recycling Regulation was amended to change the definition of producer so that it more clearly captures producers that import products for their own commercial use. For a copy of the updated Regulation please see the Recycling Regulation.
